Jewell Towne Vineyards Captures 8 Medals in the 2006 Eastern States (Big E) Wine Competition including best of New Hampshire for the Cayuga white

Jewell Towne Vineyards Ripe with Accolades in 2006!

Acclaimed Winery Brings Home Special “Best of New Hampshire’ Award and 25 Medals in local and international competition.

SOUTH HAMPTON, NH: Jewell Towne Vineyards, New Hampshire's oldest and most awarded winery, was recently recognized for their outstanding wines at four respected wine competitions throughout the US.

Locally, Jewell Towne brought home eight medals at the Northeast Gold Wine Competition held at the Eastern States Exposition (the Big E) in West Springfield, Massachusetts, including the honor of being named ‘Best wine of New Hampshire” for their Cayuga White, which also took gold. The competition exclusively features wines of New England and New York.

Jewell Towne took an additional nine medals at the Amenti del Vino competition held in Mystic, CT, including a gold for the Riesling. The Amenti del Vino society is the oldest wine society in the Northeast. Six awards were taken at the 2006 Indy International Wine Competition, the largest wine competition in the US and two at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition held in Rochester, NY.

Jewell Towne Vineyards has won over 76 medals for their wines in international competitions since 1999, and have captured 25 of them so far in 2006, more than in any other year.

Says Peter Oldak, owner and winemaker: “As the winery gains experience, our wines continue to improve. These awards tell us what we already know – the wines get better every year! When we first began competing with our wines, we won a lot of bronze and the occasional silver medals. Now we’re winning silver and gold. We’re working hard to make sure this trend continues.”

The winery is situated on south facing hills over the Powow River in South Hampton, New Hampshire and is just six miles from the Atlantic Ocean. For the past 11 years, Jewell Towne Vineyards has been growing grapes in New England. Jewell Towne Vineyards is open weekly Wednesday through Sunday 12- 4pm for complementary wine tasting and tours until New Years.
